DonorDevices.com offers a 10% discount for all Bitcoin purchases as Bitcoin saves us on credit card fees. If you have CashApp or PayPal, you already have a Bitcoin wallet. If you’re new to Bitcoin, here’s how to make payments with it. You do not need to own Bitcoin to pay with Bitcoin. To buy our products with Bitcoin, just add them to your cart and choose “Bitcoin” at checkout.
Easiest Method (US and many other countries)
- Download the Strike payment app from Play or App Store. Making a “personal” account will be much simpler than “business” account, so select personal to try it out.
- Deposit some USD/EUR/etc. Wait for the deposit to clear. Debit card is faster than ACH/Bank Transfer.
- Go to USD/EUR/etc -> Send to scan the QR code presented at DonorDevices.com checkout page.
Other Methods & Wallets
We accept both types of Bitcoin transactions (🕐 on-chain/traditional and ⚡ lightning).
⚡ Lightning transactions take under a second for pennies in fees (0-1%) and are the best method for paying with BTC. Cash App and Strike both support lightning transactions, as do most major crypto exchanges. Strike is suggested as it offers the lowest fees, has the easiest experience, and supports most countries including the US. It works on iPhone and Android. One benefit of Strike is that you can have USD/EUR/etc in your account and make lightning payments without having to ever have any BTC. Strike supports personal and business accounts, personal accounts are easier to get started with and take less than five minutes to setup. Deposit some money into your Strike account and once the deposit has cleared, you can use it to make payments. Just go to the USD tab, click “send”, and scan the QR code presented on our checkout page.
Note to users on Cash App and PayPal: To make payments in Bitcoin, you must first buy Bitcoin from within the app. You can then use the QR code presented at checkout or manually copy/paste the address shown. CashApp supports lightning transactions, but PayPal does not. See below for on-chain transactions which PayPal does support.
🕐 On-chain transactions work on all Bitcoin wallets. They take a few minutes to complete and cost 10c to $1.00 in fees depending on the day. During times of high congestion, fees can spike significantly above this amount. Even with these fees, it’s still the cheapest method to buy drives from us given the discount we can offer on Bitcoin purchases. Some wallets let you select a lower fee in exchange for a longer transaction time. Since you are ordering something being shipped via mail, a transaction taking a few minutes extra isn’t a big deal.
A Note on Self-Custody Wallets
All the wallets mentioned above are “custodial” wallets, meaning you are trusting a company to hold onto your funds for you, just like Venmo or Paypal. They may one day be poor custodians of that trust through malice or accident. For this reason, we encourage you explore “non-custodial” aka “self-custody” wallets to secure any significant amounts of Bitcoin. You can buy Bitcoin on custodial wallets and transfer it to your own self-custody wallet. Self-custody wallets typically do not enable you to buy/sell/convert Bitcoin to your native currency, but they do grant you greater autonomy over your funds as you are not reliant on third parties.
When selecting wallets, it is important that the wallets be open source so that their security claims can be verified.
Suggestions for self-custody wallets:
Mobile wallets: Zeus (global), Phoenix (US residents not eligible). Canada & Europe check out Bull Bitcoin, which is a self-custody wallet with built-in exchange feature (rare!).
Desktop wallets: Electrum
