There’s a lot of smoke-and-mirrors in the data recovery world and a lot of “we know better than you do”. We’ve all seen the more authoritative sources on matching donor drives, doing head swaps, and swapping PCB boards, and there’s some good information in those places, but we don’t think there’s enough of it. There’s not enough information in general, there’s not enough differing perspectives, and there’s not enough discussion.
Every data recovery firm seems to have their own internal matching guides and insider knowledge. We don’t presume that the matching guides found online are how you find donors. We list as many specs as possible for every device on our site so that you can match the way you want to, not the way we think you should. This also opens up the world of donor devices to more open research, as people can quickly search through our entire drive database by specs that most places don’t even list. Who knows what kinds of interesting patterns or savings you might find!
If we know it, we share it, so we’d just like to say thank you for supporting a more open vision for the data recovery field by buying our devices.
